• Overall, an excellent product. Support is top notch

  Pros

  Easy to use, and has a plethora of useful reports. It does not handle every conceivable investment vehicle, but has taken care of but one of mine very handily. In that one case, there was a way to "trick" the system to record and report as I needed. I have been a user since the mid-1990's and have not experienced any stability issues. For those of us who are sometimes remiss in properly backing up our data, there is a gentle reminder each and every time the program exits to perform the backup. The backup process is easy and painless. There is no excuse to not have your critical financial data backed up on external media.

  Cons

  If ledger detail and summary get out of balance, it is ugly to get them reconciled. It would be very useful to have an option to force the summary to be set to the detail ledger.

  Summary

  It is a smart investment to subscribe to Quant IX's annual maintenance plan. I have let it lapse a couple of times and regretted it.

• Excellent software to track multiple portfolios

  Pros

  The controls are intuitive. The learning curve is not steep and I found I could begin using it immediately with some study of the downloaded manual. The software is rock solid; I've experienced no crashes, glitches, etc. I love the auto backup function upon each shutdown at the completion of a session. On-line learning support has been very good, based upon my two plus years of using IAM.

  Cons

  I can't think of any.

  Summary

  I utilize IAM to track and compare the performance of multiple portfolios based upon several AAII screens and other investment strategies.

  Pros

  I have used the program for 20 years. Excellent management tools, reports and graphs. Detailed records of all transactions. I have never owned a computer program with such rapid technical support

  Pros

  easy entry of transactions. easy DOWNLOAD of transactions from financial institutions such as Fidelity, etc, so you can see all your portfolio in one location !. I had had a prior financial program from which I needed to transfer all historical transactions; with IAM's Help, this was accomplished fairly well, and I have my historical data for past 10 years. Reporting section is great, easy to use, and provides excellent year end reporting

  Cons

  Not really a con, but the program is complex, and there is a learning curve, but this is not due to the program, but due to understanding how transactions need entered (splits, dividends, first in first out, etc.). But the help files do help with this, and the support department is available to help answer questions and provide understanding.

  Summary

  overall EXCELLENT program. trial version available so you can see if you like the interface, and data, etc; there are sample data bases to experiment with. I think that if you want to track your financial investments, this is a fantastic program to do so.

  Easy to use. Clear, concise, complete, GREAT SUPPORT, almost more than your need. GREAT for home gamers and pros alike!!

  Built in help is a little convoluted. HOWEVER Support is just a e-mail away. Response is ALWAYS FAST, and directly to the point of solving the problem. NO BS.

  Summary

  This is my GO TO PROGRAM. Actively manage five portfolios for family members. Simply put THE BEST!!!

  Pros

  I switched to Investment account manager(IAM) from Captools for individuals over three years ago, and I'll tell you it has been one of the best moves I have made. IAM eliminated the need to memorize codes, trade input procedures and report writing parameters, all this and more is preprogramed, just check the box, which makes trade inputs, tracking and reporting simple and efficient. Over the past years, Matt at IAM has worked through a couple of computer specific issues between my computer and the program, delivering excellent results/solutions within hours. I trade and track multiple portfolios, brokers, asset classes all handled easily within IAM.

  Cons

  It ain't free but well worth the cost. No problems in over 2 years and hundreds of trades..

  Summary

  IAM is a very comprehensive, self contained, simple to use trade recording and reporting package that proves it's value many times over. Especially at tax time...

• A Big Thumbs Up From This Beancounter

  Pros

  I am a long-time user of this software, having used it when it was known as Better Investing. I am hard pressed to think of any negatives when it comes to Investment Account Manager. It's easy to use, organizes and manages all of my portfolios and provides me with essential reports needed to complete my annual income tax return. From time to time I continue to shop around for other software out there in the market and I've yet to come across anything else that comes close for the price. I am a former budget director and "beancounter" and know my way around financial systems. A big thumbs up to the developers of this software. Additionally, the few times I've called customer support I've always been helped in a very timely and courteous fashion.

  Cons

  I haven't found any cons relating to this software.

  After trying the demo version of IAM on several portfolios for the last 3 weeks, I bought it. I found the program easy to learn and friendly. The reports are clear and easy to use/understand but yet powerful. When I had questions, technical support answered the phone and gave me a clear answer. When I had a difficult issue, they immediately put me in-touch with the developer and the issue was resolved in a day. It is good to know that some firms still strive for customer satisfaction and reach that goal. I would recommend this software.

  Pros

  I use it annually of course for taxes. But I use it every day, and I mean every day, for managing my investments. In my former life-time (before retirement)I was a CPA, CFE, and CPM, so I know a thing or two about crunching numbers.

  Cons

  I own some Master Limited Partnerships (MLPs) that have return of capital issues. They could improve the reporting features here.

  Pros

  I've used this product for years, starting years ago with Better Investing, and depend heavily on it. Easy to use. Separate portfolios, but can aggregate as you choose. Gain/loss information and summaries are easy and make tax time a breeze (relatively speaking!) Tech support is always easy and available, although I've only had a couple of occasions over the years to use it.

  Cons

  I have found none.

  Summary

  Highly recommend this software. I use it exclusively for all my tracking.
