• No point trying it if it can't access the files

  Wouldn't know. Couldn't access my files, so I couldn't try the program, but based on the start of the tryout, probably no pros at all.

  Cannot access my CD to open the files. This is a major flaw, since it is a basic function in any computer program.

  I read the reviews. Some are very good and some are very bad. Still, I thought I'd give it a go. One of the prevoius reviews criticises the appearance of the program. While I believe that, being a free program, certain concessions must be made (if you want it to be beautiful, pay for it!), I couldn't agree more: Man! What an eyesore! This program is really ugly! Still, as I say, appearance is not what I was after. I need to edit some vector graphics that a friend gave me on CD and, not knowing much about the subject, I thought this program might help me so I decided to try it out. Loaded my CD into the drive, clicked Open, selected the CD drive and... nothing. It would not access the drive. I had to go into My Computer, copy the folder from the CD to the Desktop and then come back to the program to acces the files... If the program can't perform basic Windows functions such as accessing a drive to open a file, I can't be bothered learning to use it in order to see how it does more complicated tasks such as editiing vector (which may or may not be what it's supposed to do, but I ain't sticking around to find out). Sorry guys, I've uninstalled it already.

  Interface is really too poor: even if considering that "Java is not Windows", it seems that the programmer had Windows 98 in mind instead of modern systems and applications when implementing it. Quite unusable, even for an "old Dos user" as me....

• Very Poor Interface Appearance

  The user interface looks as if it was taken from an ancient Color Macintosh computer program, the images in the interface are of such poor quality that it is somewhat dificult at times to distinguish by appearance alone just what each item is.

  Summary

  As stated the appearance of this software does little to convince one that the program is written by someone other than maybe a sixth grade student learning to write programs in java or a similar language, the company responsible needs to realize that appearance of the interface is a major influence on peoples (and businesses) decision to utilize ANY piece of software. The font rendering for the menu's alone is very poorly implemented, the fonts appear to be low resolution versions of other normal fonts that have been scaled up (hence increasing the ugliness factor, i.e. pixelation). While the software may function adequately, (I wouldn't know I was so displeased with the overall lack of a professional appearance that I didn't even attempt to use the software), the appearance will surely deter anyone like myself who appreciates a professional appearance. SUGGESTION TO THE AUTHOR: Invest in Visual Studio .NET or even Borland Turbo Delphi, both of which feature forms designers that will make for a much more professional appearance. Or if you insist on continuing to use C++ or Java or whatever programming language you used (not sure which you wrote this with), then locate some kind of Forms Designer that produces a cleaner more professional appearance. I know there are a number of them available that can produce forms for use with C++ programs (not sure about for use wth Java though). Overall Recommendation: if you don't mind very low quality user interface programs then by all means use this software at your own risk. Rating from -10 to 10: -8 (because at least it DOES have A visual interface, although one of the ugliest ones i've seen since even before Windows 3.0 software) Thank You, bartman2589 P.S. - By the way, for any that would say I am being too critical my PC roots go back to 1984 pre-Windows, I have been upgrading and repairing DOS and Windows based PC's for over 20 years now, (ncluding writing complex batch files and programs in Borland Delphi, Turbo Pascal, BASIC, & Visual Basic, I have acheived much better looking interfaces than this even using the forms designer for Office 97's Visual Basic for Applications, so i think i've got enough exposure to software to competently make the above comments.

  Works quite well, its a program you have to get used to but once you master the basics you are up and running in no time. Colour can be a bit tricky at first but with a little thought you do get there. <p>Most of the Tools I have tried works quite well

  Colour mixing is a bit tricky I would like to see an easier method as in other programs of this quality.

  I have used a few of these programs and they are all always hard to use and take some time too get the handle on when you are trying too draw, this one I was able too get a decent picture out of in minutes, it isnt the most pretty looking product on the market but when you consider the easy to use and the price you get out of it the answer is simple this is the one, I seriously think they could have easly charged a price for this and it would have sold, there is a spot were you can mix your own colors I liked that you can even shade your picture, and graph it if you want lots of great options and its free i couldnt believe it

  I did have some trouble with the color on the product they took some great time though and made it were you can mix your own colors but applying them is another story im sure I just have to tinker with it some more and I can figuer it out, there is no help menu, and the icons are way out dated looked like i was using windows 95 or earlyer even

  Pros

  Compatible with lesser windows systems (not checked). You have the possibility to export your images into SVG format where you can use your copyright text as a hidden value (if you look at the svg source, you can find it). There are some unique functions which might help you to get better 3d objects as well as special text types (fe. dashed font lines). You can also draw "almost-circle"s with a tool, i didn't see this at other programs. <p>By showing the layer infos, you'll have much better jobs. <p>Despite it seems has no help the quick reference got enough examples to move on with your projects: however, i couldn't find it too easy to get all the benefits from the program.

  Cons

  It takes time to learn how to use it. The application itself isn't so well designed and got some very ugly icons. Maybe i'm just fed up with the gray color or i think they should use 16bit at least (at attached default pictures, too), who knows... It's was very strange to see so much differences between computer related and the network icons. <p>I've seen better scripts for the image slideshows. The bad thing is that you can't specify an own script file which'd be nice if you want to display the slide show on more Internet pages. <p>Besides it's maybe good that InsightPoint isn't like any other, i miss the simple Ctrl+A, deleting by Del, etc. <p> <p>Got a price what i'm not quite sure i'd pay and it has no uninstaller at start menu.
