  Would not recognise COM Port with an installed fax modem,no ability to change COM Port and no assistance available from Black Ice site or forums. Definately wouldn't buy.

  Pros

  acquire an image from any scanner to fax. Inbox outbox and sent. save feature. phone to store your fax numbers

  free lite version doesn't have cover page and some other features like fax reports.

  Summary

  it gets the job done. it's pretty stable with VoIP. Very simple and easy to use. phone book is pretty good. you can import and export contacts to and from other programs. all the pros workwell. It's good free program. $29 purchase full version which has more features from black ice software.

  ColorFax receives faxes fine. That's about it.

  ColorFax can't send docs printed from Adobe Acrobat or MS Word. The Acrobat document looked like a foreign language. The MS Word doc was all compressed and unreadable. Also, poor tech support and NO REFUNDS.

  Summary

  I purchased the full working version of Impact ColorFax and wanted to inform everyone that this software doesn?t work properly in Windows Vista SP1. It can receive faxes fine, but when I tried sending out a fax to my client via print-to-fax from an Adobe Acrobat file, ColorFax couldn?t read the characters and it looked like a foreign language. I then tried faxing a document from MS Word, and the fax was all compressed and unreadable. I explained the problem to Black Ice Software?s tech support people, and even e-mailed them a copy of the defective faxes. Black Ice Software then admitted there must be an internal problem with the software. Now, I first sent out a fax 45 days after I purchased ColorFax. They claim there is a 30 day return policy, but I still might be able to get a refund. They referred me to Digital River, the company that handles the sales of the product on the web (I purchased ColorFax software from a link on CNET.com). I looked over my printed receipt and it states you 30 days to download the software?nothing about RETURNING it. Digital River would not grant me a refund. They referred me back to Black Ice. The ole? pass the buck. It is quite evident that Black Ice Software is ripping people off. I encourage anyone else who got ripped off by this company to post a review and rate it appropriately. They obviously don?t care about their customers or future business from repeat customers. I wish I had sent out a fax before the so called 30 day refund period. Still and all, if Black Ice Software was a reputable company they would refund my money since they know darn well ColorFax software doesn?t work properly. One more item: When I called in to Black Ice Software's Sales department and explained my problem to a salesman, he said they consider customers who purchase ColorFax Software that have technical problems a ?low priority.? This company is bad news.
