Despite some initial ease-of-use issues and a little roughness around the edges, MuvExToE-IE Alias provides a convenient, space-saving way to open frequently accessed Web sites with Internet Explorer. The program's oddly constructed interface has a GUI toolbar feel on top, but finishes off with a Microsoft Access database-look below. We had to hunt for a command to launch the application, and finally found its setup option buried on IE's Tools menu. (MuvExToE-IE Alias has a help button, but the resulting coming soon message isn't much help.)

Fortunately, the program was easy to set up and use after we gained a little familiarity with its quirks. We simply entered a letter or name alias and a URL into its database fields. Then the tool automatically launched the associated URL whenever we typed the alias in IE's address bar. Further, we were able to use a single-letter alias to automatically launch several pages in separate tabs simultaneously with IE7.

We didn't like that MuvExToE-IE Alias wouldn't let us type in any other program or Web site when it was minimized, but it's easy to forgive that flaw. Those who frequent the same Web spots will find this free program handy and functional.
