  Everything else: slow upload, slow download, missing files, terrible customer service.

  Summary

  If you give these people your credit card number, they will not allow you to terminate your account. They will keep charging your card. If you dispute the charge with your credit card company, the will dispute your dispute and recharge your card! DON'T WALK! RUN AWAY FROM THIS SERVICE!

  Well, I guess one pro is that I paid about $12 for the first year, but considering the terrible customer reviews its no surprise they would offer low introductory prices

  Cons

  -SLOOOOOW upload speed. My HD is about 190 gig full and 3 weeks later I only got to about 60% of this. -I paused it at 60% due to exceeding my internet monthly data allowance and a week later when I resumed, it started uploading from 0% *facepalm* -Sent 2 emails to customer service, both went unresolved, one email not even responded to -Havent yet given me a refund for a completely pointless program

  Summary

  Backups are too important to waste time on iDrive, look elsewhere for better online storage

  I got an email that looked like an offering for a plan with more storage, but on a closer look it turned out to be a notice that they would automatically change my account to a more expensive plan UNLESS I OPTED OUT! "When your account renews later this month, you will be automatically upgraded to this plan. Or, you can choose to remain on your existing plan by clicking this link." Sure, there is a link to opt out, but it's easy to miss since the mail looks like an offering for another plan and not an offering to opt out. It's misleading and maybe even illegal? I cancelled renewal of my account immediately and will be looking into other backup solutions.

  They tried to automatically upgrade my account to a more expensive plan without my consent. Also, upload speeds where horrible.

  I got it for cheap.

  Cons

  SLOOOOWWWW! I was uploading at 0.5GB per minute. I got 5TB for a year of their storage at a discounted price. I didn't realize it would take me a year to upload!

  Summary

  Not worth it. Google drive is about 3 times as fast. Amazon, OneDrive and DropBox were 10 times as fast.

• Terrible Customer Service

  The service seemed to do what I was paying it for the last few years.

  Cons

  Subscribed to their backup service for 4-5 years, but haven't really utilized it the past year. When I got 3 emails over the past 3 months saying that iDrive didn't have my updated card information and therefore my account would not auto-renew and cancel, I thought it was time anyway and didn't respond with my new info. Since they didn't hear from me, they went to my bank instead, paid to get my updated card information, and ran the transaction anyway, with no notice, email, or call to let me know that the issue they'd emailed about several times had been resolved and that my account had renewed. By the time I caught the charge on my bank statement two weeks later and called iDrive to cancel my account/get refunded for the year of service that I wasn't going to use, they refused my refund request, cancelled my account, and kept the $150 that I paid for the next year of service.

  But if you cancel, Print Screen for proof as I didn't. Took everything off their server including my credit card information several months in advance too, before the account renewed. Still charged my credit card and refused to give refund. When I called to inquire, was told to reinstate my account and cancel next year. I said, "Your company is no longer a GOOD FIT for our company." Very Disappointed in their Customer Support and For What $59.50.. they must need the money more us..

  Use PrePaid Credit Card.

  Didn't kill me or burn down my house . . yet.

  Unbelievably shady business practices. Hard to find what the charges will be on the website. I disabled auto-renew only to check later and see that it had be re-enabled. I sent in a cancellation notice as requested but then got a note saying my renewal was coming up. When I called I was told that I had already renewed!!! Plus those ads with scantily clad women. Yeah, they're pretty but what is this, the 1950s?!

  Scam. You can check in but you can't check out.

  I don't understand how CNET can rate iDrive to be excellent. We must be living in different realities. My one star rating isn't because several of the features do not work (archive cleanup is broken, and the backup will attempt to perform a full backup on all files for no apparent reason), and it's not because of the speed. No. iDrive gets one star for customer service. I have a paid account, and have been going in circles trying to get someone to address my broken backup issues. Backup just hangs. Email support directed me to chat, and chat directed me to email support. My case finally got escalated to the R&D team, and now after nearly a month (without a working backup) and several email nags they've asked me if I can run a backup and report what happens! Yesterday I gave up and went to a competing service. I've asked for a refund on my remaining yearly subscription, and so far there's no answer. iDrive is a horrible service, and anyone should be very wary to trust their valuable data to it.

  I have Carbonite. I like it except for the pita it is to backup video files. That pissed me off enough I thought I'd buy idrive since CNET gave it such a nice review. Why oh why didn't I read the REAL reviews from the users. I have a 240MB download and 20MB upload yet this turkey was uploading at around 700KB. I had it up for 36 hours and had 20% done. Crazy. I'll just stick with Carbonite and be angry with it until I can find something better.

• Seems Very Flawed - No Trust

  I was unable to find anything positive except the price, which was discounted to $15.

  Cons

  VERY slow upload. Does not use available bandwidth. Interface is confusing and provides data that is not accurate or is contradictory. After less than a week, my storage level was already 2x my total disk data.

  Summary

  First experience with cloud storage. The initial upload of my 133GB SSD took over 48 hours. Vendor replied to emails, but would not address specific questions. I really have no confidence in this company or their software. I canceled my account and asked for a full refund.
