Editors’ Review
This handy application securely manages and stores your login information, but it doesn't allow you to store other types of information.
ID Memory's dull, tabbed interface lets you easily manage stored login information, but it won't let you create and modify records for bank and credit card accounts and other sensitive information. The program is password-protected, and you can set up multiple profiles, which is very useful if you're sharing your computer.
The program can capture user names and passwords in multiple ways--from the tray icon, a floating icon, or through a button in the Internet Explorer Toolbar--and supports other browsers like Sleipnir and Firefox. In our tests, the tray icon and the IE add-on work efficiently, but the floating icon was unable to capture login forms in the latest version of Firefox. The program automatically filled in forms on our subsequent visits, but the demo can only store information for six login entries. It also stores the associated Web sites and provides quick access via the tray icon, which is a time saver. The password generator is a nice welcome, and the automatic logout protects your data as it shuts down the program after a user-specified length of time.
Any user will like the security and time-saving features found in this application, but its limitations may frustrate some.
