• Highjacks with confirmation dialogs

  Free, colorful, free!

  Does not close on command, closing the dialogs makes it stay open, dialogs cannot be disabled. Windows does not shut down with this program open!

  Summary

  It overrides basic windows commands, and it is often necessary to go into the task manager, just to close the damn thing! Any method of closing, it brings up text windows, and ignores clicks to close and Alt+F4 to close. Closing the test window it bring up, makes it think you want it to stay open... Whoever designed this, thank you for your effort... But this thing is nearly an annoying as itunes, with their "helper", their "attempts to install a half dozen unrelated apple programs, and hidden autoupdater that cannot be disabled from starting with the system.

  Colored themes you can NOT disable, is very distracting.

  Summary

  I needed a free IRC client in a hurry, so I came here, found IceChat. After installing I spent about 15 minutes digging through the preferences to turn off the horrible window themes. I even tried to force Win7 to disable all themes and composition for the app to no avail. The themes are built into the client itself and you cannot turn them off. Why? This isn't AOL, and it's not 1998. Uninstalled, found another free client.

  Pros

  it will log in to more then one server and you can program to auto open chat rooms in each server. it is totally FREE unlike mIRC and far better. Try it you'll be very pleased.

  none that I see.

  Download it and give it try for it is FREE. I used mIRC for years and it is all I uses now.

  Pros

  It's been a while since I've used IRC but this one seems pretty intuitive and easy to use. I have no complaints. Memory usage is low as well as install size.

  Pros

  it's very very customizable, i've changed my background to black and green text, the sides are faded from black to green vertically down. it's really cool. highlights and sounds are easy to set up, everything is user friendly, and it has a fairly simple GUI.

  Cons

  compared to mIRC, i can't pull out the chat window, it has to stay in the application window. with mIRC i could singally pull out hte chat window and dock it on the top or sides of my screen. :-( that's the only flaw i've found so far and i've had icechat for 2 months now.

  There are some more complex features that someone who isn't very farmiliar with IRC wouldn't understand, but this is not much of a problem.
