Icecast is a streaming media project released as free software maintained by the Xiph.org Foundation. It also refers specifically to the server program which is part of the project and its free open source unde the GPL license.The server currently supports Ogg (Vorbis and Theora), Opus, WebM and MP3 audio streams and It can be used to create an Internet radio station or a privately running jukebox and many things in between. It is very versatile in that new formats can be added relatively easily and supports open standards for commuincation and interaction The GUI is intended to ease the work with any icecast server on a windows environment providing also the ability to register the server to some important radio directories like openradiodirectory.com or Xiph.org Besides other features like security,stability its provides also a chat channel for everyone to interract and communicate on a radio channel.
