A "simple install" gets you access to HP's photo service that competes with iPhoto's service with Apple, neither of which interest me. Unwelcome late holidiay season present. No read me. It's a printer driver and reading abot three options in a printer driver is not my idea of fun. I see nothing different when printing to photo or inkjet quality papers with graphs or text. Good luck. 80+ MB of advertising and unwanted software as far as I can tell.

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.<br />Finally, they fixed a print quality problem I've been having since upgrading to Panther from Jaguar. The previous version had some serious pixelation problems with hi-res prints. Thanks for the previous tip on repairing permissions. The tools look pretty useful - but in my brief testing, they were pretty slow on my 1.25Ghz PowerBook.

I wish HP would provide better descriptions for their updates; make a better web site as navigating the HP site is terrible; pay more attention to the very special Mac market; and raise the price of their stock higher than the price of one of their ink cartridge refills. Other than that I always look to HP for quality products that last longer than most Presidency terms; even if they are in office for two-terms

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.<br />This is more than an updated driver for HP PhotoSmart printers. It is a package of applications to edit, print and share photos. The actual download is more than 60 MB. Once installed an application called HP PhotoSmart Menu is automatically launched when booting. It doesn't add anything to the menu bar. It is a small application that gives you quick access to several HP photo applications which HP calls Tools. These include HP Image Edit (for editing and enhancing photos - this is comparable to iPhoto's image editing), HP Image Print (which has numerous options for printing photos - this is really nice!), HP Instant Share (which offers several ways to upload images to a free HP server for emailing and online viewing - this is really nice, too) and some other tools. Frankly, my opinion is these are well designed, easy to use and better in some ways than iPhoto's editing, printing and sharing. I've never praised an HP program before, but this one looks very promising and I plan to make use of it. Incidentally, repair permissions after installing this software.
