Designed to help users get their spending habits under control, Home Budget is an electronic twist on the envelope-style system of budgeting for personal use. However, users who need a full accounting system with an in-depth ability to track assets, liabilities, and project cash flow will find this program falls short. This program gives users the ability to set up accounts (virtual envelopes) and move portions of income into these accounts. Somewhat flexible, the program accounts are easy to create using a set-up wizard that guides users through the point-and-click features. The smooth interface includes drop-down calendars and a built-in calculator. Functions include the ability to import Quicken data and online banking statements. Users also can schedule transactions, produce charts and graphs, or view account summaries and reports. Home Budget is designed for all levels of users, although there will be a slight learning curve for those not familiar with the envelope budgeting system.

This is a good program for a home budget.

Pros
I can't believe all the things this program does FOR FREE. It has an input wizard that makes entering your data pretty easy. The help program is very thorough. I found it pretty intuitive and pretty easy to work with.
Cons
Look, it does take a little time to "learn" this, but not that much time. As far as entering so much data, which is true, the end result is worth it. For a "con" you do have a learning curve but not a real steep one.
Summary
So far I love this program and as stated earlier I can't believe how sophisticated this is for free. If you decide to give it a try use the "wizard" for entering your data, that was real easy

Pros
keeps track and cross balances accounts, easy to use. I had no problems using this program. It does what I want, keep a track of my spending and lets me see the balance of my bank account.

Had to read the manual.

I'm sure that if you are prepared to sit and Really study it for a long time, it might be ok; there is a *lot* to learn.

Interface is so busy and not user-friendly. Not attractive in design and far too complicated.

I didn't spend a lot of money on it.

It isn't intuitive. Before I had entered all my information and set up accounts I felt like giving up.
Summary
it would take too long to get used to this program and I do not feel confident that once learned it would get easier. I want to track my spending and try to pay down some credit cards--that's all.

Looks great and could use it. But I need to access it from 2 computers, not at the same time, in my home network. I Emailed them but got no answer if I can do it.

The more honest and the more involved you are will determine its overall success
Cons
Some Bank Info may be incorrect at the start, but once all info is downloaded it is correct and is maintained by the program.
Summary
A very labor intensive program at first, but once all honest info is fed to the program it's relatively easy to maintain. Receipts are very important to the honesty and integrity of your budget.

The entire come on Free Free Free...you take the time to loadload this garbage and nothing is free...it is a "FREE" Trial...then you agree...then download. I would expect CNET to police the word "FREE." ... just another internet come on.

I would not buy it even if I knew the product was good...simply because of their sales tactics...what a rip off.

Pros
I plugged in my numbers, got paid, paid bills, blah, blah. Everything worked just as it should. With this program, you get exactly what it says. Nothing more or less. I'm thrilled.
Cons
There are no cons for the product. I simply hate doing my books, which is why this pgm. is so great for me. (sorry, NO cons)
Summary
I'm not much for finances, but this pgm. takes all the work out of it for me. Between this and my bank, it isn't work, it IS just data entry.
