Summary
I've been through 7 free software packages which all were supposed to scan documents and save them as PDF files. None of them could compete with this little smart tool. The one that came closest was Scan2PDF from Koma Code. The only fuction I was missing there was a way to define the page size to A4. All other tools either were naggy or click-intensive to get a result, or did not have functions to let me choose the compression I wanted, most of them had both disadvantages. Now this little tool comes along and offers this, and also offers a way to set both image resolution and compression quality independently, plus a calculator which optimizes quality to a given output file size. Wow! I wanted a way to scan paper documents as multipage PDF on my hard drive without wasting heaps of space (not that it matters but it just feels better when it's compressed). Hexonic does the trick fast and easy. Thanks to the author!!

Summary
I was looking for something to scan multipage documents into pdf format. Other downloads I tried wouldn't work, at least no in the free version. This one is very easy to navigate and worked great. I was easily able to scan multiple pages, arrange them and then save them as a single, multipage pdf file.

Updated on May 31, 2012
I also want to add that this program used the native scanning interface for my scanner, which gave me all of the options I wanted in a familiar screen. It was very easy to adjust all of the options.
