Used Heroes of Might and Magic V demo for Windows?
Editors’ Review
The graphics, presentation, and gameplay of Heroes of Might and Magic are what most gamers would expect from the acclaimed turn-based strategy series. Unfortunately, a lack of instructions or tutorial may leave you befuddled, wandering about the world of Ashan and wondering what the heck you're supposed to do. Also, rough edges show throughout the demo, including frame lag and Tool Tip mistakes. The high-quality graphics and gameplay, along with three campaigns and multiplayer action via Ubi.com help rescue a recommended rating for the demo.
In the single-player demo missions, you'll basically explore the available playing area, gaining gold, experience, and towns, and completing objectives. Battles are conducted by positioning your available units in the melee area, then directing each unit's attack move or letting the game fight for you automatically. The towns are your renewable sources of units and can be upgraded once per turn.
This fifth version of the tactical strategy series is the first to include 3D graphics, and the look is impressive, though the cutscenes are mostly worthless. The single-player missions are brief, but they offer a healthy look at how the combat, role-playing, and city-building elements of the game work. The only catch is that you'll basically need to learn how to play on your own.
