In All-In-One mode, the LED represents system memory and CPU usage as well. Hovering your mouse over the LED gives a real-time numerical reading of the read and write performances in megabytes. It comes with some aesthetic pleasantries that let you customize transparency and colors of the onscreen LED lights.

This tiny application lets you perform real-time monitoring of read and write activities on your hard disk, but its display isn't overly appealing. HddLed is the virtual counterpart of the LED on your PC case. This program appears as a small blinking indicator on the upper-left part of the screen and monitors numerous logical hard drives installed on your computer.

As a nice feature, you can have your Scroll Lock key or the system-tray icon flash every time read or write activity occurs. We recommend HddLed to anyone seeking an easy-to-use monitoring tool that doesn't take up too much space or use too many resources.

Perfect, subtle indicator.

Pros
Works just like I was hoping for. The subtle task bar icon flutters the disk drive is being accessed. Advanced features let me pick which drives to monitor. Low memory requirement.
Cons
Can't find any thing to complain about.

Pros
The sofware seems to work fairly well, but the visual feedback leaves a lot to be desired. I didn't try the Scroll Lock LED feedback, since it just wasn't working the way I had expected to begin with.
Cons
If you choose to use the systray icon for the LED, you will still see the regular floating LED and there is no way to get rid of it. The custom colors also don't apply to the systray icon, you're stuck with the defaults.
Summary
If you want customization or better GUI feedback for a virtual HDD LED, keep looking. Unless the developer puts some additional time into making the visual feedback more friendly or customizable, it's just not all that appealing.

Pros
I never got the chance to use this software, due to the virus.
Cons
On install, AVG alerted me to a threat: Trojan Horse SHeur.CENC. After removing the threat, I attempted install again and got the same alert on the hddled.exe file that was installed.

See above. I can't figure out how to report this virus to CNET, or I would do that.

Pros
I have 2 physical drives and several partitions per drive. with this simple little tool I can monitor what drive and partition is being accessed. You can configure the color of the lights to your preferences and move them around where it best suits you on the screen. Also uses very little system resources. (a little over 1 meg. of RAM)
Cons
You get a nag popup every time you boot up asking you to register the product. After installing it did freeze my system up once. However after running the chkdisk and defragging it seems to run ok now.

Pros
My computer is under my desk and I can't see the hard drive activity light and I have 3 physical drives. Now I can see whats happening when I hear the computer buzzing away and which drive. Also you can move the LEDs anywhere on the screen. It will show logical drives also if you want. Its a very lite program.

None and I've been running it for quite a while.
