The softness and blurry is because the phone purposefully reduced the image quality to improve performance when you pan and zoom. Use this app to view photos on your phone with the maximum sharpness. Now on WP8 devices, the app is able to delete photos. It can also move high resolution photos from Lumia 1020, 1520 and Icon to a folder "HD Photos", from where they can be accessed by any third party apps.
