GoneIn60s is a neat little program that makes those Homer Simpsonesque "D'oh!" moments where you close Firefox instead of iTunes a thing of the past. Weighing in at a hefty 206KB, Gone keeps closed programs running in your RAM for an additional 60 seconds after you hit that red X.

Once running, Gone lives in your Taskbar as a yellow lightning bolt. After you close a program, right-clicking on the icon will give you a list of recently closed programs that you can reopen, without any information being lost. Double-clicking on the icon will rescue all recently closed programs.

The program has a lot going for it. You can actually customize the time period, and we were able to fend off losing apps for 200 seconds. Gone has a customizable blacklist of programs that you don't want it to save when you close them--it comes preloaded with Notepad.exe--and it has a "kill windows" option that prevents it from saving changed documents. When I exited Gone, it reopened the last closed program--a strange bug, but not one that interferes with the program's effectiveness.

It restores program applications that are closed by accident, like, OOPS! Then run it then restore! It's like the program state is still stored inside the RAM until 10 seconds, and GoneIn60s restores them! Pretty cool!
Cons
Nothing, just installer problems. It can't be running everytime you start your PC. Or maybe a faster way to run it. Solution to Running Everytime: See at Summary.
Summary
This program is great, but adding an installer is a way of this. GoneIn60s should have exceptions if a program asks to exit and save. And you click it. It won't run everyday you start your PC. Solution: Go to Registry Editor by Start>Run>"regedit">OK. Then go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE (HKLM)/SOFTWARE/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/Run then add a new value. The type is a String. Write the value name as you like. Then type the filename, example "GI60s-JaNa.exe" is your GoneIn60s file. So type the filename of your GoneIn60s executable with the .exe extension. at the "String value" textbox. Then press OK. Log-Off first, then restart. GoneIn60s will start itself!<br /><br /><span class='notifyMsg'> Updated </span>on Nov 13, 2009<p/>GoneIn60s is good, but the real secret of this software is revealed. If you close any application while running GoneIn60s, it "steals" some RAM, according to the application that you are using for a minute. A Photoshop delay from GoneIn60s for recovery even takes away 500 MB of RAM!

It puts a persistent tooltip wherever you move the mouse, extremely annoying, I went hunting around the net for a solution till I realized it was this program doing it. ON TOP OF THAT, there is no way to turn off that annoyance!<p>You know what be better, is if the program saved the state your computer was in just before a bluescreen of death, THAT WOULD BE USEFUL.
