Golden Autumn 3D Screensaver is an attractive program that lets users view a coming autumn scene on their desktop. Although a few aspects of the graphics could be better, overall, this is a very enjoyable program.

The screensaver starts and users are transported to a parklike setting that is full of turning trees. A soft rain falls and gentle music plays. We encounter various points of interest throughout the park, such as a gurgling fountain and ducks swimming in a canal. The program made us feel relaxed and a little wistful. Our only disappointment was that the colors of the leaves weren't more vivid; one would think that if someone were going to go to the trouble of creating an autumn-themed screensaver, the leaf color would be one of its main attractions. We suppose the program could be credited with realism, as sometimes fall colors just aren't that spectacular, but we expected a little more. The program comes with its own interface, which was simple and easy to navigate. Users can adjust the rate at which the rain and leaves fall, turn the music on and off, and adjust the format in which the time is shown in the bottom right corner of the screen. Although it's not perfect, the program is definitely among the better screensavers we've seen.

Golden Autumn 3D Screensaver has a 60-second trial period, and then a nag screen appears. The program installs politely but leaves a folder behind upon removal. We recommend this program to all users.

It's nothing more than a selling tactic; offer something for free, and then make you buy it. It's called 'bait and switch' -- totally illegal, if someone reports it. If something is free, then give it for free and if you want better graphics, buy the updated version. I can't believe that CNet would even think of putting this on.

well i went for the free one and after 3 days it left my computer. i suppose they want you to buy it.

if they want you to buy there product. Please do not offer a free one as well,then when people try the free one it just leave there computer. i wont be looking at them any more. I live here in hot Australia and we don't have any thing like that over here to look at. so that is why i went for it.

Scenes are realistic as a whole; creative imagery. Ducks are cute.
Cons
Leaves look two-dimensional, causing overall image to look a little imbalanced. Pop-up asking to register blocks the view and is annoying. Only about 50 seconds of viewing the entire screen (1-2 scenes proper viewing) before pop-up appears.

I think that this particular screensaver is absolutely gorgeous. I love it best because it is Autumn and beautiful leaves are trees are everywhere.
