Ginipic gives the user a new way to search for images/photos/illustrations/graphics and such online. It searches through all big search engines and photo-sharing websites simultaneously, thus providing the user with the most varied and comprehensive results possible. Once the users wants to use a search result, all he/she needs to do it merely drag-and-drop the result anywhere - may it be a PowerPoint presentation, a Word documents, a Photohsop canvas - literally anywhere. With Ginipic's side-by-side feature, the user doesn't need to leave his/her workspace (as opposed to opening a browser window for example), thus working with Ginipic in the original task's context. Ginipic also enables the user to go through mass numbers of results, all very quickly. It displays hundreds of results on a single view (as many as the user's screen resolution fits), and going through more results is instant - you never have to wait for more search results when browsing them with Ginipic (they are automatically retrieved in the background). Ginipic allows the user to perform numerous actions on search results, starting from drag-and-drop, saving to file, saving to Ginipic's favorites for future reference, setting as the Desktop's background, sharing (email and social bookmarking) and more.
In terms of combining a massive number of possible search engines for images, ginipic is amazing. Well organized pictures and the ability to easily download or arrange them. I can find images related to comics or rpgs in moments, and easily come across some I never had before.
Cons
Ginipic could be the biggest and best thing out there for picture finding right now. Except there is a safe search bug that they haven't addressed. Most people don't want to search safely, period, and most people cannot successfully disable the function without a catastrophic crash of the program.
Summary
For 50% of what people do on the internet in terms of picture surfing this is great. For the other half? Well I wouldn't become an investor just yet.
Excellent and thorough -- Thoroughly excellent!
Admiral-Zeratul
Pros
It queries and displays many pictures that would be very difficult to find using other methods
Its interface is relatively simple and intuitive
It uses multiple search engines to locate results of your image searches
Best of all, it is free and works
Cons
There is apparently no option to disable automatic pre-loading of search results (some people with slow connections may not necessarily want that feature)
Summary
Ginipic is a superior method of finding those ever-eluding pictures scattered about the web that you feel you just have to get your (digital) hands on. Not only can you search from a variety of sources (google and DeviantArt are my personal favorites), but it also lets you download images straight to your hard drive! If you're like me and prefer not to download images but still want to be able to return to them later, the 'favorites' functionality is very useful. If you want, you can even build your own collections for viewing within the Ginipic application. If you want to find a certain image or just browse through search results without fear of malicious or ugly websites, there is probably no better way to do it than Ginipic.
