Percent problems pose a problem for many people who have grown a little rusty on their mathematical skills, or happen to be a "right-brained" people who never really had a great grasp of numbers. In the retail industry, savings are often given in terms of percents but those figures don't really mean very much to many shoppers, unless they happen to take the time to translate the terms into actual dollar-and-cent figures. Even with a calculator in hand, knowing how to translate a percent problem into the correct mathematical formula in order to determine the answer is no easy task for those of us who are not mathematically inclined. What Percent Calculator does is it takes percent problems and uses a text -based interface for solving the problems. In fact, Percent Calculator phrases the percent problems just as you would encounter them in everyday life. For instance, to solve the equation "30% of 400 is what number?" on a calculator you would have to enter that as "30/100 x 400 =" in order to get the answer, which would be 120. With Percent Calculator, all the user needs to do is fill-in-the-blanks: ___ % of ___ is what number? The user simply enters the number "30" and then "400" and clicks on "calculate" to determine the answer. Likewise, percent problems can be phrased differently, as well, calling for entirely different percentage equations to be entered into a calculator in order to determine the answer. Percent Calculator, being text-based, asks only that the user fill in the blanks in sentences describing the percentage problem to be solved, and completely omits the necessity to put the percentage problem into a mathematical equation at all! This is an answer to prayer for those of us for whom numbers do not come easily. Percent Calculator makes math as easy as saying a sentence.
