  Pros

  Total misuse of the word FREE. In my opinion, nesoft should be banned from posting there wares using deceptive descriptions.

  Actual d/l has only 19 files with the file ext .id. Windows change icon program does not reconize this file ext. Other 3 files are html which links to nesoft web page to sell you the necessary programs.

  The download contains1332 images, not "more than 3,000." They have the extension icl_auto_file, and apparently require NeSoft's Change Folder Icons tool if you want to use them. That's free for 10 days VERY limited use, and the license is $19.95.

  Summary

  The publisher's description of NeSoft?s Free Icon Gallery 1.0 shown on this page is inaccurate and misleading. Besides the blatantly false number of icons, the files are in no way "absolutely" free. If they were they would not require the purchase of an additional product to access and use them. The description does not mention any other products. I was unable to access the files in the Gallery with either @icon sushi 1.21 or Greenfish Icon Editor Pro 1.72. I also tried MS Paint, Windows Picture and Fax Viewer, and PhotoScape 3.2, without success. Just to view the things I had no option but to download Change Folder Icons, also from NeSoft, with all of its petty torments and flaws. It was this program that provided the count of the files contained in the Gallery. When I eventually accessed the Gallery's icon libraries, the icons themselves were nothing special. A good portion of them looked like basic windows stuff, and most of the rest were something like 16x16 and pretty crude looking. I found nothing of interest. The only excuse I see for the misleading Publisher's Description is their web page for this product. It has been updated more recently than the gallery offered here and claims to contain even more "free" products. However, I only visited NeSoft's site after I had problems with the product I downloaded from this page. Obviously this product is not very popular, but I based my interest and actions on the description given here. Please review it. Cnet has always provided an excellent service. I am unlikely to download, purchase, or use another NeSoft product. This was a great disappointment and a complete waste of time.
