Editors’ Review
EzSnap does make it easy to grab screenshots of anything visible on your desktop, but it doesn't store them locally. Instead, you'll just get a URL that takes you to the publisher's Web site to view them. And the editing tools it promises were nowhere to be found.
When you first launch the program, you'll be asked to create an account that allows you to view image history and stats online, and while this step isn't required to use the program, it's probably best if you want to easily access and view your screenshots. This is because EzSnap doesn't save your screenshots to your hard drive, it saves them on its site, and if you don't sign up, you'll have to save the link it automatically creates if you want to view your screenshots in the future. With an account, you can go directly to your History to see your screenshots. The program sits in the System Tray and you just hit Ctrl + 1 to bring up a tool that you can use to capture any section of your screen. It works fine, but instead of displaying your screenshot afterward, you just get a message that it's been uploaded and the link has been copied to the clipboard. If you hit Ctrl + 2, you can drag existing images to a small onscreen box; these will be saved online, as well, and you'll also get a link you can paste where you like. Ctrl + 3 lets you take a Webcam pic and also upload it, automatically. While the program description mentions a photo editor, we couldn't find it on our computer or on EzSnap's Web site.
EzSnap is still in beta, which may explain the missing photo editor, but even if it had the editor, we still weren't impressed with the program's approach to saving screenshots. EzSnap is offered for free, though, and its screenshot tools are very easy to use if you're OK with not having access to the images directly on your PC.
