• Will NOT Write Subtitles Files to DVD

  What a POS. Why oh why can't it just write the files from the disk to the DVD AS IS??? It will ALWAYS ignore the subtitles file when you rip a DVD as a movie. And NO WHERE in the documentation is there a solution, despite 3 users BEGGING for an answer on their BS Forum site. Awful.

  Probably good for some basic uses, but not for movies!

  Pros

  Nice-looking interface. Did not get to really try it out [see below].

  Cons

  This loaded a lot of acoustic programs that I did not expect or understand. In addition, it destroyed my volume icon and some factory-installed sound software that I have no means of reinstalling.

  Summary

  I had to revert to an earlier system image made before I installed this software. I am keenly disappointed that CNet let me do this.

  Pros

  I have to completely agree with bob on this one. It has all the features I would want, does what I need it to do for free, and if you buy pro you'll never need another burner again.

  Pros

  I thought at first it would not burn my DVD video but it did. Apparently it was pixelized because the source video was pixelized. I was even able to edit the video and amplify the audio. Saved my life as I thought I couldn't find a free version that worked. Still using free unlicensed version but it works well for me.

  Cons

  I installed all the other software that came with it and it just looks messy but I was actually able to use the editing software. It takes a long process but works well for me. Also, I did not verify anymore after burning as it says error though there's really none.

  Summary

  I don't know why most of the users say it didn't work for them. I still use the free unlicensed version but it worked wonders. Thank you Express Burn!!!

  Pros

  Worked once. "Discounted" price is only $38 more than it's worth.

  Cons

  Downloaded some other NCH software, got an (unwanted) link to this put into my Programs menu, turned out to require another download, trial period was short, began to uninstall it, was offered the free version. Didn't tell me that the free version doesn't burn data DVD's. What a waste of time.

  Summary

  There are plenty of free CD and DVD burning programs, for example InfraRecorder. Save yourself the trouble of installing and uninstalling this one.

  Pros

  The layout is fine and I could figure it out OK.

  Cons

  It kept crashing and cut the end off a movie twice even though it was all there. It's also very slow compares to other programs I used. I wanted it to burn various types of video file. The related converter is fine. If only the results were better.

  Summary

  If they ever get all the bugs out it will be a good program. I tried DVD Flick and burned the same movie but it played. It's also slow but is free and works.

  Pros

  Unlike some of the standard commercial programs, it does not by default keep trying to index all of the zillions of audio files in my computer. I like to burn MP3 files with associated images as data. PERIOD. Good not being faced with other features of little relevance to me. Interface and common functions are very easy to understand.

  Cons

  Not sure just yet if this is a REAL problem or not: Express Burn "verification" always "fails" when burning CD data disks of my XP Desktop. HOWEVER, when burning CD data disks (with similar content) on my 64 bit Windows 7 notebook, the "verification" feature always passes. Ultimately, both "unverified" and "verified" disks SEEM to play the same. The "seem" attribute comes from the fact that every second of every MP3 track (with total run times of several hours) can not be definitely checked. Inquiring minds want to know. With apologies to the National Inquirer. Cheers.

• Watch out or you will get ripped off

  Not many, pretty basic functionality. Nothing special to recommend it.

  Cons

  The program downloaded an update, then invalidated my license! So now, 10 months after I purchased it, I have useless crap. They DID NOT tell you that you would need to save your old version (which is ERASED by the update) or pay for a new license. They also tacked on an unwanted extra charge when I purchased the program. This is a totally dishonest company.

  Summary

  Look elsewhere.
