  To upgrade to latest Evaer Skype recorder instead of in installing and re installing please do make changes that we can do them to the existing system.

• Purchased two full licenses, quality became unreliable

  - Can be set to automatically launch with Skype app. - Will record when any Skype call begins (though you may want to disable this if you don't want to record *all* calls).

  Cons

  - Inconsistent recording lengths. - When recording local side, only recorded mono. - Couldn't consistently hold local side audio separate, leading to recordings where other caller was mixed in or dropped out local side and only recorded outside caller.

  Summary

  To have remote recording of a podcast via Skype, with local side on each, I'd purchased two copies of Evaer's single user license. We configured our Skype and Evaer settings to match so that we were recording our local side only and the call would start the recording instantly. Evaer could only record us in mono, but this could easily be duped into stereo later. The problems started when Evaer started losing up to a third of calls on one side or another, and despite our settings, continued to loop in the other caller into the mix (and always at low volumes), or worse, just have one caller on both sides. Complete waste of money.

  It would be great if the tray icon flashed when Evaer is recording to confirm that it is recording.

• Ruined an important recording

  I test-drove this software twice before using it to record an important video call. Halfway through the call, I got a message there was issue with the audio. I stopped, checked playback on that file, found it to be okay, and then started a second recording for the rest of the call. The first call plays at a normal speed, and the second is a mess, playing way too fast, with jumping video. I can't even make out what's being said. This was a recording of a Skype interview of someone dying of cancer and having me right her life review so her 4-year-old will be able to know her better someday. There aren't any do-overs. Yet when I wrote to Evaer tech support to ask for help with playback, I got a reply to check two settings--and was told to make sure they were correctly set so that it wouldn't happen again. They didn't even acknowledge my request for help with playback Shouldn't the settings be correct by default when you download the software?

  Pros

  I couldn't be more pleased with this product. I Skype my 84 year old father every Sunday morning and I use your product to lay down a record of our discussions. I works seamlessly and does a perfect job of recording our sessions. I have years of our talks recorded. The updates you provide are regular, easy to install, and useful. Keep up the good work.

  CNET fails to inform that this is a TRIAL version with a 5 minute recording limit (unlike the Evaer site which does tell you). Thus if you are recording something like say a vitally important qualitative interview for an Honours thesis, and after hitting record and doing your one hour interview, you may come back and find your entire research project ruined with only 5 minutes of data recorded! Thanks CNET for not bothering to mention this vital piece of information for this TRIAL version download. You have ruined my project and probably my year! Next time mention all the facts about the program-your lack of effort can have very negative consequences.

  Nothing good about it.

  Nothing good about this software. It is not ready for use. It is put out to the users before it is ready. lots of bugs. settings do not work as supposed to. should be taken back by the author and do not bring it back until it is ready. I use windows 7 and when I run this software, It slows my computer, gives so many errors in other running software.
