Its good now and then Epson releases these crappy updates to reinforce the reason I never buy their products any longer. What support?
Epson, you should be ashamed!

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.<br />Ditto on the review that it breaks the scanner. The application launched and then quit. I could not use my old version. I rebooted and neither version would work. I ran the uninstaller and things worked again (thankfully).
The only way I have been able to run my Perfection 1670 scanner for over a year now is to plug it in directly to the USB port on the back of the computer. It worn't run off the keyboard, it won't run off a powered hub. And I can only launch the software from the Smart Panel application (the individual apps do not work).
Interestingly, the scanner itself always runs from Image Capture, so I am fairly certain this is not a hardware incompatibility.
Epson needs to decide if they really support Macs or not. The software and subsequent support are not acceptable. Updates are few and far between. Even when you look on their website, it's hard to determine what software to download. As far as I can tell, the OCR application has never been updated. The insaller itself is klunky. In summary, it is dishonest to market Epson scanners to the Mac market with this level of support.
