Version 2 need a bit of 'nouse'
- Pros
- Installed in the normal way this program is a bit of a waste of time but if installed in a folder called ePrompter in the root directory (ie c:\eprompter) it works okay but not for Gmail who seem to go out of their way to stop ePrompter. Well that about sums it up. Version 2 isn't geared up to work in the normal Windows directory. Maybe version 3 will correct this.
- Cons
- None that I can see.
- Summary
- Certainly useful and especially since it is free.
TERRIBLE -- There are Better Programs Available
benistheman- Pros
- Absolutely no pros (Looks like Windows 95? Maybe that's a pro, if you like that kind of thing. Didn't completely destroy my system? I guess that's a pro. Nice logo? That will only get you so far. It convinced me to install it but I'm really sorry I did.) I'd give it ZERO STARS if c|net allowed it.
- Cons
- Failed to find server, the interface looks like Windows 95. Smells like malware, it's so cheap looking, it might even have security flaws, it's so poorly put together. Relies on custom screen-savers that do not seem to work, at least where I work. Complete waste of time. Nothing but regrets.
- Summary
- WARNING -- Sorry if that seems harsh. Don't waste your time on this one. This program might have potential if they do more development, but there are better programs available. Recommendations / Alternatives: #1. If you're using Chrome browser, try the Checker Plus browser extension. Set it for Text notifications that never fade from sight. That's not a system tray icon but it works, and the extension is really good. Get it in the Chrome web store. #2. If you really want a Windows system tray icon, try Gmail Notifier, from gmailnotifier.com It has a flashing icon, checks Gmail once about every 60 seconds, and has basic email capabilities (read mail, mark-as-read, delete). It can't launch the browser, but that's its only real problem.
Does not work.
TymonTheThief- Pros
- None at all
- Cons
- Everything
- Summary
- Like numerous other people have said, this program does not work.
Eprompter is BINDED WITH A BOT !!!
bktruss- Pros
- NONE - This will make you join a botnet
- Cons
- Phones home upon installation and periodically afterwards to a known C&C server (141.8.225.13) https://palevotracker.abuse.ch/?ipaddress=141.8.225.13 Virustotal shows 0/43, Anubis says it clean. This is because it is crypted to prevent Anti-virus from detecting it and it has Anti's to prevent it from executing in a virtual enviroment or a sandboxed enviroment to prevent reverse engineering. But if you install and watch the firewall logs, as soon as you install and continually afterwards it will phone home to the C&C for instructions. 16 computers in my network started a DDOS attack bogging down the whole network. We downloaded from all the third-party sites that host this and all of them do the same, so it's obvious this was done by the developer.
- Summary
- This is probably there is countless reviews of people not being able to uninstall.
Didn't work on my PC with windows XP
mattstaggs- Pros
- Uninstall was easy
- Cons
- Did not work with Gmail, Yahoo and Hotmail on my PC with Windows XP
- Summary
- Didn't work for me
Only works with 1 email address
nikale57- Pros
- None at this stage as it used to work before.
- Cons
- Just adds the email addresses but does not notify me of emails.
- Summary
- Not happy Jan
Does NOT work
enriquebf- Pros
- Worked very nicely in the past.
- Cons
- Abandoned by its creators. Dont waste your time.
- Summary
- Sorry to see it go to waste...
No support for Indiatimes!
Neer_j- Pros
- America oriented
- Cons
- America oriented. Except for Rediff, no other non-American, non-1st world, non-white-people-type email service provider supported. Why? Hey Brasilians, South Africans and other 3rd worlders, do you see YOUR EMAIL SERVICE PROVIDER IN EPROMPTER?
- Summary
- The version available for download on CNET is of 2005, for Christ's sake!!! This is 2011! 6 year, apparently abandoned. No support for Indiatimes. Outdated, obsolete, a dinosaur in the 2nd decade of the 21st century.
Will not uninstall
cadpah- Pros
- I couldn't find any
- Cons
- Says that it has been uninstalled, but is not. Not in Add/Remove list or programme list.
- Summary
- Acts as if it's a virus.

Updated on May 20, 2011
Can I just throw it in the Recycle Bin?
Didn't work
mikey1975777- Pros
- none--would not check my mail
- Cons
- does not work
- Summary
- Great idea, if I could get it to function properly. Sent numerous emails from one address to another, and it wouldn't register that I had new mail. Needs work.
Developer’s Description
ePrompter automatically and simultaneously checks and retrieves your e-mail messages from up to 16 password-protected e-mail accounts, such as AIM, AOL, Hotmail, Yahoo, Yahoo Beta, Gmail, POP3, Earthlink, Excite, Juno, Email.com, Lycos, Mail.com, Mindspring, MSN, MyWay, Netscape, Rediffmail, SBC Yahoo and hundreds of other e-mail domains.
ePrompter not only lets you compose, forward, and reply to your retrieved messages, but also gives you the ability to delete unwanted spam or suspicious-looking mail without having to launch your e-mail program or having to go to your Web mail's site. And, importantly, when ePrompter retrieves messages, it leaves the original messages on your various email accounts' servers.
ePrompter's notification features include a unique rotating tray icon and a choice of five screensavers that let you know at a glance the number of new messages in each account, as well as audio alerts for new messages. Version 2.0 employs auto-upgrades so that regardless of the version of ePrompter you download from CNET, it will be automatically updated to the most recent version of ePrompter after one use of the program.
