  We have been using this software since EMP 6 to protect approximately 300 email accounts and have been very happy with it. About 6 months ago, we upgraded to version 7 and are enjoying the new quarantine web interface and the benefits from the additional version 7 filtering methods. In the end analysis, this is a superb product that I very much recommend. Rob

  Pros

  One of my biggest success stories at multiple client sites. It definately eliminates the spam from their inboxes and without the high false-positive count I've run in to with other filters I've tried in the past. Management by end-users is easy.

  Cons

  I have 2 clients still on NetWare and EMP has dropped support for this platform. Not a big deal though I can just install on Windows and point to GroupWise.

  Summary

  Not sure what a couple of previous reviewers are talking about with some required code. I've had to move EMP to new hardware at a couple of my clients and did not run into any code requirement. I just ran uninstall and then installed on the new hardware. Easy and effortless. I have a new client that started with me in February, that needs a good anti spam solution. I am installing EMP at their company this next weekend. I'm looking forward to their faces after the installation. It is amazing watching the huge smiles when all the spam has disappeared. I recommend EMP to everyone and anyone who is overwhelmed by spam and requires a stable and well supported product. Robert System Integration specialis

  Easy to use web interface for our employees. Responsive technical support when it's been needed. Very accurate filtering.

  Not much I can think of.

  Summary

  We've been using EMP to protect our over 400 employees from spam for over 3 years now. I have to say, we've been very happy with the product. No major issues come to mind. I've taken advantage of EMP's very useful feature of content based whitelisting quite a lot. So, very very happy with that capability. I think there is no question we'll be using EMP here for quite a few years. Bill R - IT Director

  There are no pro's to this software. This is a scam.

  Cons

  The software was problematic from day 1. EMP even blocked addresses that were whitelisted. We chose to uninstall even though we forfeited the $695. Eleven months later we got a bill for 'Gold Service'...EVEN THOUGH WE HAD WRITTEN NOTIFICATION!!!

I CAN SEE THE CLASS-ACTION BREWING!<br /><br /><span class='notifyMsg'> Updated </span>on Feb 6, 2009<p/>On uninstall the EMP software fails to change the port where it 'listens' back to the Microsoft default of 26. The result is total loss of email function. All email during this time is unrecoverable. JAK fails to mention this port change in their materials. JAK Support is unreachable once a purchase is made. Also, unless you provide 'written notification' of discontinuation of service you will be charged an annual 'Gold Service' fee of $600...even if you have uninstalled the software. Microsoft has been notified of this scam and is currently investigating the business conduct of JA Korsmeyer. Go with a hardware choice.<br /><br /><span class='notifyMsg'> Updated </span>on Feb 17, 2009<p/>This is not true. The 'code' is in fact the port where the EMP 'listens'. The EMP software changes the port on install, but conveniently does not change the port back to the default on uninstall. You must somehow remember what port number to manually enter. In between changing the ports you lose (unrecoverable) all email sent during that time.

  Pros

  standalone, front-end java based product that runs easily on any windows server.Architecture is good. Code is pretty reliable.

  Cons

  I used this product for 5 years on a HIgh School campus. I received nothing but complaints about the porosity of the spam filter. Updates are now nearly non-existent. The GUI is a toy, and is built for someone that likes to tinker.

  Summary

  Eventually, the frustration of using this product far outweighed its monetary value. It was designed in the 90's, and it works like its still in the 90's. Unfortunately, spammers are in 2009. The product is clunky, slow, and requires a lot of user maintenance. I finally switched over to another product and the user complaints stopped immediately. That, coupled with the intimidating, threatening tone of the customer service at this company, makes me say that this was one of my worst technology judgements ever.

  I couldnt get the code either! <p>I had to manually delete the program and try search through the registry finding any strings regarding the software. <p> <p>I dont understand what they think they achieve by maing it difficult to uninstall.

  The product is working but not very good.

  I downloaded the trial-version and installed. After testing I tried to uninstall it but that cannot be done if you dont get a code from JAK. <p>I have emailed them a thousand times to get the code but they dont reply. <p>I faked a mail where I said I was interested in buying the software and they answered pretty quick. <p>When I replyed and whanted the uninstall code they just ignored it. <p> <p>DO NOT DOWNLOAD THIS PROGRAM!!! <p>YOU CANT UNINSTALL IT!!!

  Pros

  We conducted a fairly long evaluation process, including server side anti spam products from five different vendors. <p>We chose EMP at the end, primarily because it performed better and had more technical depth, than the others we trialed. <p>I highly recommend EMP. It's a dependable solution to the overwhelming spam problem. <p>The ability to white list based on content is unique and pretty amazing <p>Lots of ability to analyze performance and tune the product - not a 'black-box' solution. <p>Very little spam gets through this filter <p>Good mail seldom gets caught and when it does, it's easily correctable <p>Technical support is some of the best we've encountered. <p>Tom S. <p>IT Director
