Ping Monitor is a free automatic tool for tracking connections to hosts, located in the local network and Internet. It detects connections statuses by sending regular pings and analyzing responses. If pings to host are failed a defined number of times in a row, application detects and reports a connection outage.Ping Monitor can work in 24/7 mode to track the connections states and calculate connections statistics, which is reported on the main application screen. Displayed parameters for every host include monitoring time, uptime percentage, total number of detected outages, percent of passed pings and ping statistics. This information can be used to evaluate the quality and stability of the connection.

In addition to monitoring features, Ping Monitor offers an extended notifications and reporting functionality. You can configure the application to report connection loss, restore events and ping statistics as messages in a System Tray or to send corresponding notifications by e-mail.

If required, you can extend functionality of the application and setup custom event handlers for execution on connections loss and restore events. Any command or executable file with optional command-line parameters can be defined as the event handler. Also it's possible to activate special terminate actions when connections to all monitored hosts are lost or cannot be retrieved during defined period of time. This feature allows you to make shutdown, reboot, hibernate and logoff operations on the computer where Ping Monitor is launched.

Pros
Simple and easy to use, like a previous reviewer mentioned this product does exactly what it says. Setting up notifications works very well. Also the ability to set specific settings for each host makes this quite a powerful tool for the price. It's also resource friendly, despite the slick looking GUI.
Cons
My only complaints are really rendered null by the extremely low cost of this product. But if I had to nitpick, I really wish there was an ability to set dependencies to link one host to another. So if 20 sites are dependent upon 1 site, you only get 1 notification, as opposed to 21 separate notifications. Also databasing, and the ability to run the program as a service would be nice.
Summary
We've had this software deployed for a few months now, and it hasn't let us down yet. We are monitoring over 60 sites around the clock, and it's vital we know when something goes down. I would absolutely recommend this cost effective tool for people in a similar situation as myself.

Pros
Easy to setup. Worked on all of our devices including routers and our smart switches. We have fixed IP addresses but will work with Host name with Dynamic IP address as well. Multiply notifications option allow: Mail, Pop-up window and Sound notifications. Fully adjustable ping times, outage number of pings, failed pings, TTL, etc. Monitoring intervals can be setup by day and time of day. Custom Actions for events via path or commend line are available. This is an excellent piece of software for anyone who needs to make sure their devices don't drop off line or need to be notified when they do. (**!!Use the advanced installation set up to stop the install program messing with your search bar!!**)

Needs a little bit of time to workout all of the features

We are very happy with this application, its feature rich for an automatic ping application and is ideal for monitoring all devices on networks with fixed or dynamic IP.

Pros
My computer downstairs keeps losing a connection to the internet. So when I am not around I used this software on one of my other computer to ping that computer downstairs as well as the internet.

None, it is a free program.

For the above reason, it is a very good application for troubleshooting connection issues.

Exceptional quality freeware. It's better than many commercial tools, but it's completely FREE. Just amazing. It has automatic and customizing e-mail/SMS alerting - exactly what I need.

It's customizable - I can tune every option. And it's FREE!
Cons
It will be good if it can monitor multiple hosts at once, but Freeware is a Freeware, so I don't expect that it will be a tool for large enterprises.
