eMail Verifier can save time and money for businesses who send newsletters to their clients, nonprofit organizations who send bulletins to their members, or any person or business that needs to maintain a clean e-mail contact list. eMail Verifier works on the same algorithm as ISP mail systems do. Addresses for e-mail are extracted from a Domain Naming Server (DNS) and eMail Verifier tries to connect with SMTP-servers and simulates the sending of a message. It does not send the message though - eMail Verifier disconnects as soon as the mail server informs the program whether the address exists or not. Email Verifier is a very effective piece of software that can verify over 10 e-mails per second. It can verify single e-mails or huge lists. (eMail Verifier is multithreaded, providing high speed verifying).
pros: it not performing its function, not sure pros are relevant
Cons
1. it crashes all the time in the middle of the verification process (3 out of 4 times) and does not save progress so you just re-start again. the company has replied: "all softwares crash"
2. it depends on how big your list is. if in thousands, the only way to do it is to break it down into less than 2-3K chunks because it will not handle well more than that
3. if you actually use the software on the generated bad / good / untested lists again, you will realize it will again find bad and good and untested in good ones, in untested ones... and in bad ones.
Summary
A complete scam; total fraud; absolutely zero refunds
DeviousMinds
Pros
It is very easy to purchase
Cons
This program is a complete fraud and scam. By their own admission EVERY email yahoo, google, hotmail, rocketmail, msn etc will validate. That is correct. If you have a list of say 5000 emails and 75% of them are from a free service like the above, regardless of whether they work or don't, monitored or discarded, over limit or under, they will come back valid. So of course you have to wonder what the point of a EMAIL VERIFIER is right? Well from their own FAQ, this program isn't designed to tell you whether the email is functional. It is only designed to tell you if there is a response from the server. Therefore every email that has a working domain OR a domain that has a "catchall" will come back valid.
They also have ZERO refund policy as they expect everyone to pre-read their FAQ and by purchasing you waive the ability to get a refund.
Summary
In short, a complete waste of time. Getting a refund is a monumental exercise in futility.
Sounds good but spam blockers prevent real checks

Pros
Easy to use
Cons
Rather worthless since out of 3,500 names I tested 1,000+ were bounced by the spam blockers of the email servers. A few hundred other names simply couldn't be checked. So, being generous, 50% of a list can be checked. Not that helpful
Summary
Great for curiosity but hardly effective for a small business user
Actually works!!!

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
Hoping that the new version would work better, I just have tried it again. 3 from 4 addresses were "looking bad". And I know that they are right and working. Can you imagine that I was deleting an address, just because this program says so? I have tried with different providers...By the way, my own address is not valid...but I am lucky, I receive around 50 emails every day to this wrong address!
it does not work

The list contains some of the major ISPs that block port 25 on their servers.
I have tried all day emailing the support people, it is way to hard for something that is suppose to save time.

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
This app couldn't verify an email if it got hit in the face with it in bright daylight in cyberspace.
I send out an newsletter each week and this app concluded that all of my 5000 emails are invalid and non-existent.
Good luck to the developer.

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
if it really worked, but I found this app to just go into an endless loop after three retries no matter what email address I gave. And because of the built in rules, any hotmail or aol address just automatically says it's good. It has a nice interface - simple and easy to navigate, but it also lacks simple keyboard control. Example: After typing in an address, you want to hit the Return or Enter key to start the search but no go. You have to hit Apple+K or click Verify to start or Hit ESC to stop a search but you have click the Cancel button.
It's nice idea with a clean interface and has potential, but currently this goes nowhere.
