• Lots of Promise but Nagging Connectivity Issues

  yowbooksDecember 4, 2010

  Pros

  Beautiful graphics. Really stunning.

  Cons

Connectivity issues. Had sub for 1.x and uninstalled. Account login needed constant config file tweaks. Got a free sub extension for 2. Login issue resolved, but it would not download data files. Useless. I uninstalled it and let the sub expire.

  Summary

Earthsim reminds me of old English motorcycles like the Triumph and BSA. Graceful designs, wonderful handling but nagging oil leaks and those dreadful Lucas ignition systems that could never keep the ignition and all the lights working at the same time. I've been down the road with Earthsim 1 and Earthsim 2. They're both beautiful to behold but leak and stall like true British garage queens.

• Amazing views of earth and planets

  Pros

Creates the most amazing graphical views of our solar system that I have seen, especially so on my widescreen TV. I love being able to watch the sun setting on Mars whilst standing in Valles Marineris

  Cons

Still some bugs to fix around tile edge matching, and ground level needs a lot of detailing adding in to maintain realism but I can see where this is going. Needs interactive documentaries as well
