  I installed and was required to activate at their website - which no longer exists. Web site http://www.cygtools.com Server Error in '/cygtools' Application. The resource cannot be found.

  Protects the system folders by default Automatically selects the duplicate files based on rules I can right click on folder and find duplicate files

  This is an amazing tool. I have been using it for sometime now. It is flawless. The user interface is very intuitive and easy to use. It has all the options I need and much more.

  Pros

  - Protects system folder (or other folders you select) from accidental deletion - Has several filters to narrow your results based on size, file type, etc. - Easiest auto-selection of files to delete based on different criteria like last modify date, folder path length, etc. - Save session file and reload if you scan same folders on a regular basis. Saves time and mighty convinient - Click on any file in the scan results and select "open" to see what's inside - You don't even have to launch the program to scan a folder for duplicates. Just right click on a folder in Windows file explorer and select "Find Duplicate Files". Awwwsommmeee!!!!

  I'll just mention the features I did not see in other de-duplicator tools: * Scans and compares local paths, network, or even DFS shares if you add them using bulk add (this seemed unique among several dedup products I examined). * Supports basic rules for tie breaking which dupe to remove such as shortest/longest folder path. Many dedupers will auto-select one of each duplicate pair for removal, but may not select the same folder from one file to the next. If you have a whole folder exactly duplicated, this product will always remove the duplicate file from the same folder. * Allows you to permanently delete dupes, move them to a folder of your choice, or put them in the recycle bin * Provides several methods of checking files for similarity. CRC, MD5, or byte-by-byte comparisons.

  This was so valuable and flexible, the cost of purchasing it versus my time to dedup manually made it well worth the reasonable price.

  Pros

  Fast, simple and a time saver.

  Cons

  Not so much a con as a feature request, but I would like to give folders priority over others (rather than depending on the length) that would then recalc my duplicate selections.

  Summary

  I planned to set aside a good chunk of time to remove duplicate mapping images for a VTT that I've collected over the years. But you just click add folder, start (wait a couple of minutes depending on number of files), select duplicates (put in criteria like name, date and name folder length) and then delete... you're done.
