• OK for adding menus

  Pros

  I was searching for something that could add a menu for 12 .avi files with a total of 2.18 Gb without re-encoding. I was told that DivX Author could do it. It can't. It wants to re-encode the files which would probably affect the quality and the resulting size would be 5.3 Gb which it can't handle anyway.

  Cons

  Due to the above, I didn't try all the features so I can't really comment.

  It's a great DivX program if you're still using WinXP

  Doesn't work under Windows 7 64bit

  Pros

  You can create custom menus for playback on DivX Ultra certified devices. You can add subtitles Automatic 2-pass encoding Will load VOB files if you select "all files" in the OPEN file dialog. Easy editing once you understand the user interface

  Cons

  No batch processing. Does not install properly on Windows Vista and needs UAC permission every time you run the program.

  Summary

  I've been using this software almost exclusively for all my DVD VOB encoding for last couple of years. On my Quad-core, Vista64 system, it encodes faster than real time even though it does 2 passes.

  Its great. its very quick and makes the videos look really good.

  theres nothing i dont like because i bought it. but is you use the trial the out put is very slow and the out put in the bought version is fast...

  It's easy to learn and the quality of the finished product is great looking and sounding.

  Cons

  All the good stuff that the normal user would use is a"PLUG IN" that requires additional purchase. And the resulting files are really huge!No problem if you have muti "tera-bytes"of disc space. And it takes longer than usual to convert over regular authoring software.(never use for P2P uploads)takes so long people will not download your stuff, unless you upload to "their" site at stage6.com
