Visually-oriented users will appreciate the easy-to-understand graphics this freeware utility displays to let you know what's taking up space on your hard drive.

Disk Space Finder launches a well-designed, easy-to-use interface with two panes. The first, smaller pane lists drives and their folders in a standard tree format. The second, larger pane displays a beveled-edge pie chart that illustrates how the space in a selected folder is divided among its contents.

This utility performed very well in our tests--the scan time was short and the resulting pie chart was quickly displayed. In our tests, a folder containing 20GB of data took Disk Space Finder only five seconds to produce a chart divided among six categories, with each category's pie slice shaded in a bright, easily distinguishable color. A category name (Downloads, Pictures, RAR files, and so on) and a size (4.5GB, 2.2GB, and 1.7GB) accompanied each slice.

This tool offers a great way to determine where you may be wasting storage space--quickly and easily. There aren't a lot of bells and whistles, but the quick performance, the outstanding display, and the ease of use make this app a winner. Experienced users and novices alike will appreciate this free tool.

I have not used this program but I have used a program called J-Disk which is awesome. Takes a digital snapshot of what ever folder/drive you select and shows you where the largest amounts of memory is being used and is interactive because you can click on subfolders within the one you scanned and it will show you the memory usage with in it.

It finds out what is taking up the most space quickly and you'll be surprised at what you can get rid of to save space. I was going to buy another hard drive, but now I don't have to.
