- This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.<br />Now, a couple of my Macs are iMac G3 with CD-RW drives 8X Write on the CD-R portion. Neither Toast Pro, iTunes nor Apple's burning software would let me burn at 8X, using any brand of CD-R that I have tried (settled on Sony Audio CD-R if it matters) always kicked it out and I had to drop to 4X Disc Burner 1.15 burns a complete CD in 9 minutes and the logs state (ROFL) Speed Asked for: 330X, Actual Speed: 8X To me that is terrific on at least the backup front, does the job in half the time.

However the people who migrated to Panther (10.3.*) has problems crash when they try to write the the disk. For CD-RW disk Quick Erase seems to work but not Erase. I have no problems with using Panther's built-in burner.

I have had problems lately with Toast and Apple's own software is way too slow. This app is the fastest I have found and is reliable, easy to use and did I mention free? What is not to like?

Both Toast and Apples internal software reject burning such a file. This little app does it and it does it very cool. It may be because of the stupid â??Desktop DBâ?? that those apps add all the time, it may be over-burning, who cares. This small application gives you something that Toast and apple can not give you. That only makes the product different all the way. So thank good it is a free ware you whiners. If you donâ??t find a use for it you can dump it.

To say that it is ripping off Apple or Roxio??, well tough!- because Apple really should have considered that not all their products contain superdrives. So it serves them right! It found my Quefire straight away- which is a lot more than I could say for all the other (very few) freeware apps out there. I would have prefered Toast- but at $99??? I don't think so! Would like to see different write speeds however- perhaps there is a way of doing it? Great little app- very handy.

This is shamefull as others have replied and VersionTracker should not only pull this blatent act of Icon and description theft from Apple and Roxio, but they should also report it to those publishers. Its not only asking for trouble, but its also trying to trick people into being interested. This software is next to useles with other programs around - if you are going to make a Disc Burner try and make something original...

- This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.<br />Jep, with this icon better be careful. Disk Burner works fine with data CDs, but doesn't support Audio CDs. Hopefully in the future. The main advantage is that you don't have to copy the data first to the image. I will make you an icon and send it to you, 'cause for a freeware app I do so ; )
