works thru hardware firewalls, even MS ISA2000 can be configured with all IP detector sites will update to most dynamic dns manager sites can send update notices via email can perform other actions after an IP update very small actual footprint
Cons
a bit difficult to control when it updates so abusive reports can happen. need to watch update frequency settings.

I've been using DirectUpdate of various version for about a year and half, and v 3.6.3 since its release, first on a Windows 2000 Server and now on a Windows 2003 Server. Not a single crash, runs as a service and is extremly easy to setup and use. I can even use the email notification feature with MS Exchange. Web based remote admin console is basic and only allows the adding and deletion of domains. Would be nice to see more functionality to the web based admin included in future releases.

I just download and tested out the apps which works great. Did a test email notification and it send it to my yahoo account. Too bad it's not a freeware but I managed to crack the program so that's a plus!

Dear all. You don't have to buy it because it's freeware. This is the only tool that can update your dynamic address to your own domain name if you register free at zoneedit.
