Building upon Harkness Screens original Digital Screen Selector web app, the Digital Screen Calculator from Harkness Screens is a free utility that allows engineers and exhibitors to ensure that digital cinema investments are fully optimised. Quick and easy to use, the tool calculates the capabilities of equipment choices and provides recommendations on projector, lamp and screen choices based upon chosen screen size and light levels for 2D and 3D. It also calculates theoretical operating costs and shows how screen choice might reduce these dramatically. Its bi-directional functionality allows data entered into the tool to be re-used in Harkness Digital Screen Modeller to fully simulate cinema conditions in a 3D environment.The Digital Screen Calculator has been rigorously tested to confirm its accuracy. The tool however is dependent on the accuracy of data entered by the user which is then used to make a number of assumptions. Whilst the results displayed in the Calculator are theoretically possible there are any number of variables which could alter the outcome significantly.
