Editors’ Review
This free tool lets you encrypt files so that you can send them securely over the Internet or on DVD/CD. Unfortunately, the Help feature is no longer available, so you're on your own here.
DigiSafe Confidential has a simple but professional-looking user interface with basic buttons. Despite the seemingly simple design, it took us a few minutes to get acquainted with the program. The online Help file wasn't available during our tests, which made the learning curve somewhat steeper. If you have a problem or a question with the program, you're out of luck. Although you're asked for a password, there isn't a step during installation to set one up. The program accepted anything we entered in the username and password fields, which led us to question its security. From there, you're supposed to add the files that you want to encrypt. We were able to quickly and easily add files. Encrypted files were sent to a folder on the desktop, making it easy to find them.
The program worked for us, but the lack of password protection or a Help feature prevent us from recommending. We recommend you look for a more secure encryption tool.
