The trial version features a 15-second start-up delay. Otherwise, this is fully functional, five-fret guitar software. The paid version has 24 frets.

This program provides a number of tools useful when learning to play the guitar. First of all, it helps you build and listen to the chords. The program window shows the strings you should press on the guitar fret board. Desktop Guitarist lets you enter chords by selecting notes or by going through the Chord and Scale Finder. You can save a sequence of chords and print it or convert it to a MIDI file. The program also helps you tune the guitar, calculating the chords for any method of tuning. Though the interactive lessons are geared toward beginners, even experienced guitarists will find something to like in Desktop Guitarist.
This program is a good program for people intrested in guitars!

Pros
i like the program and the fact that the help section was just that, helpful.
Cons
I dont like that fact that it was too complicated to use, the average person would have problems using this program. Must spend alot of time on it to get familair with the program. You have to have a guitar background to understand it.

Marty Balash scores again! After purchasing the first Desktop Guitarist, I didn't even bother with the trial version of version 2, I just bought it. MANY new features! Greatly improved interface, scales, a Quote of the Day, even a tuner! And I haven't even had a chance to fully explore the program; but I am one VERY satisfied customer. Thanks Marty and CNET, and keep up the great work!
