This simple utility allows you to easily control what other users can access on your PC. Desklock Security operates by password-protecting specified programs or system areas. The interface is just a tiny gray box with a few buttons, so most users won't have trouble finding their way around. Still, we were miffed to find the developer failed to include help files of any kind. You can configure the application to lock any program on your computer, and it can also block components found in the Start menu and the Control Panel. The utility lets you set permissions for different users but doesn't offer any advanced security features, such as an encryption tool. Still, folks on shared computers or concerned parents may like Desklock Security for its ease of use.

The program itself is a great idea but it lacks good programming. On my laptop it pegs out my CPU and slows down all processes of the machine. It's only a few years old, perhaps on a brand new machine over 1ghz and 500+ ram it would work ok. So try it out and watch your CPU usage. keep an eye out tho, i would definately be down to give this software another try a few more releases down the road if they fix the bugs.

I must have test about 10 different desktop locks and none come close to this one. This one can specifically lock out any application from starting up and also lock the start menu. With these alone, you can do nearly any combination of locking users from asscessing the pc. Just make sure to understand the program locking menu. It took me a while to learn to use it. Otherwise, this little app. is stable and perfect for my surveillance PC.
