This program organizes your family tree. The installation goes by so fast you don't even notice it, and Ages - Family Tree Database then launches automatically. The main window doesn't overwhelm you with many buttons and features, since they're all hidden inside the software. After creating a new family member, you start generating the whole tree by specifying the person's relations, kids, and spouse or partner, along with data about birth, christening, and burial and other facts, notes, and sources of information. By creating cards for each family member, you can generate the whole tree and keep it updated. You can view brief or detailed information for any particular family member. The program doesn't show you the whole database in tree form. This drawback is minor, though. The program still works for people who wish to keep track of their ancestors and relatives.

things needed in my view <p>1. a nickname fields as most of my family is know by nicknames <p>2. i found it imposible to completly remove a name <p>3. when my family heard i was making a family they all want to say (voice) something about themselves, cant be done! <p>4 it would be nice if it had a windows NT server type sercurty as you dont want one member of the family too see another info without asking i.e they can see their person but no more by clicking send am email.

I almost fell in love with this software instantly. I reached the 50 people limit within hours and decided to buy a license key. Never regretted it! Even with the 2500 people in my database now it runs as smoothly as ever - on my old system.

first of all, this is a trial software. It only lets you do 50 people, then you gotta pay for the software. Once you DO pay and put in your correct information to register, it says "Thank you for registering. However, It never lets you go above 50 people because even tho it told you you registered successfully, it still thinks your runnin off of the trial. Waste of money. Also, It had a little section in there for "Christening" date. Isnt that cool it adds that nice little section for that? NO! I'm not Christian. I dont want that section! I wouldnt mind if that area of information poped up after you filled out your religion, but no. It assumes your christian. THIS IS WRONG... I call a boycott
Read this before Ages eats your GECOM file!

For freeware this is a great tool. I love that it runs without loading dlls onto your machine - this lets me use it at work where I need admin privileges to install anything. Ages did exactly what I wanted: I was able to merge individuals and delete easily. But it also couldn't cope with the nickname fields (added weird characters to the names) and erased all the dates I have labelled "guess". I didn't notice this until I reloaded the Gedcom to my site. It will take a long time to repair the damage. The point is, it's great if you know what it can do and your file doesn't have entries that Ages can't cope with. Keep a backup of your Gedcom and play around with this to see if it works for you.

Having tried quite a few programs, I found this one to be what I was looking for. I figure that other guy didn't find the button for more marriages because it is so simple, I couldn't belive it either.
