CurveUnscan accurately digitizes curves, charts, and graphs from paper, exporting data directly to spreadsheet and plotting programs. It offers automatic, manual, and densitometry modes for diverse needs.
  • Pros

    • Offers automatic, manual, and densitometry digitization modes.
    • Automatic mode recognizes complex curves, accounts for line thickness.
    • Exports data directly compatible with Excel and other plotting software.
    • Supports linear, logarithmic, orthogonal, and non-orthogonal coordinate systems.
    • Includes TWAIN support for direct image scanning.
  • Cons

    • No mention of batch processing for multiple curves or images.
    • Lacks integrated data analysis or advanced visualization features.
    • Does not specify cross-platform compatibility.
    • No explicit support for cloud storage or online data sources.
    • Does not appear to offer OCR for chart labels.

Developer’s Description

Scan a curve and identify its point's coordinates.
CurveUnscan is an application that digitizes curves, charts, and graphs from paper. The digitized data is exported into a file that can be directly read from Excel or any plotting or spreadsheet program. Three different modes are available: automatic, manual, or densitometry. The automatic mode performs curve recognition: the curves are automatically identified, taking into account crossed or dashed curves. The line thickness is also taken into account for better accuracy. The manual mode can be used for digitization of scatter plots or bar charts, for instance. The densitometry mode handles band density, spectrometry, or molecular weight images. The coordinates systems can be linear or logarithmic, orthogonal or not (image scanning imperfection). CurveUnscan handles almost any existing image format. Furthermore, the TWAIN support allows you to scan images directly from CurveUnscan.
