CUBRID is especially fast for Web sites.

Pros
Its unique optimizations do really good job for you. You can execute queries several times faster for the system with hundreds thousand of articles and hundred of thousand concurrent users. It's excellent choice for Web Apps.
Cons
The manual are provided in English and Korean only. Though this is very trivial, it would be nice to have CUBRID manual in other languages as well.
Summary
I started using CUBRID about 5 months ago when CUBRID 2008 R2.1 was available. I like it very much now. CUBRID is very reliable, feature-rich database server engine, which provides seamless transactions even if our company has high-volume databases regardless of the size of databases or the number of tables. Its High availability and Fail over features allows us to provide 99.9% service availability for our valuable customers. What is more important is that CUBRID also provides Database Replication and Transaction consistency between replicated databases, as well as Multiple Granularity Locking. It is a surprisingly fast database server engine highly optimized for web applications. We experience great improvements by using CUBRID's unique optimizations, specifically designed for web applications? high workloads, such as Click Counter feature and Fast Concurrent Insertions. Query plan caching and query result caching also allow our applications to serve read-only queries with minimal server resource usage. CUBRID provides us enhanced HA feature with node failure detection and resource management. Its unique multi-process architecture and its multi-threaded server implementation scale very well as the data and number of users grow. Because of CUBRID?s functional benefits. the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) for our CUBRID based solution is significantly lower than other alternatives due to the hardware costs savings. We really save a lot. CUBRID?s high performance, its optimizations and good scaling help our organization deploy cheaper hardware and still provide 24/7 up-time and serve the same number of concurrent users.
