Can't store maps on external SD card

Pros
The maps anad the program itself are very good, BUT check the con below.
Cons
The main problem is that the maps take up a lot of space; more than many phones and tablets have to spare. Unlike other apps which let you select where you want these huge map files to be placed (on an external SF card, for example) CoPilot doesn't offer an option. If you have enough room in your internal storage for your first map, that's where it will go, and all future maps MUST all fit there as well, or you won't be able to download them. ALK has claimed that if there isn't enough room for the first map set, it and future downloads will go to the external SD card. I have no been able to prove this, only that I was unable to download more than one small subset of the US maps before running out of space.
Summary
Some forum members have described ways to alter a configuration file manually to force the maps onto the external SD card. The problem with this approach is that a CoPilot update will restore that configuration file to it's original state, thus requiring you to go through the whole process again. Another suggested rooting your device and using a third party app which creates links to the external SD card. Neither of these approaches are proper for the average user. ALKs responses are: It can't be done, or it's not our fault, it was due to a change made by Google. Other apps handle this situation properly by giving you an option for where to store the maps.
