Use the mouse middle button to pop up the Start menu, minimize windows, and more.
The right-hand mouse button in Windows gets a good workout, but that poor old middle button on three-button mice gets ignored. Cool Mouse rectifies that. Once it's running in your system tray, this great tool lets you use your middle button to pop up the Start menu underneath the mouse cursor, minimize windows to the system tray, roll windows up to their title bar, and more. Customize any window to have its own features layout. The Fast Folders feature can display a pop-up menu with your favorite folders for easy navigating in Open/Save dialogs. You can also make the middle button simulate a double click, scroll the current window, and take advantage of fast program configuration through hotkeys. Even if you have a two-button mouse, your right button can duplicate Cool Mouse's functions when you press the Scroll Lock key. Version 3.4 now is fully compatible with Windows 2000 and Windows Me, and there are few other enhancements.
As time progresses applications are usually enhanced, but not this program. Several years ago, Cool Mouse was free and had more features than it does now. Among those features was the ability to pin down any window to stay on top of everything else. Now Cool Mouse 3.4 sports a cool price of $25 and lacks the feature I found most useful. Won't stay on my computer till tomorrow!
