  I downloaded this expecting Clamav and got Immunet. I know they are from the same company, but this is deceitful.

  Summary

  This is the "Immunet" download, plain and simple. This is deceptive. If you want to see more reviews of this product go to the "Immunet" download page. FYI, this product locked up my CPU at 100% usage until I uninstalled it.

• Great freeware AV solution

  Pros

  ClamAV is a great anti-virus product for modern PCs that not only is free but emphasizes the open-source software philosophy. ClamAV provides great levels of protection with it's new on-access scanner thanks to Immunet's technology.

  Cons

  Needs to have more options to configure level of scanner heuristics, options to check for updates on a local level. No way to tell what exactly is being protected against. Would like to know if ClamAV works against RootKits.

  Summary

  Overall I give ClamAV 4 stars. Reason is ClamAV is freeware and open source software so anyone in need of a viable AV solution can acquire it for free. Very light on resources as well. Cloud based computing makes its ready for the future of computing technologies. It's also a great alternative to Avast Free, Microsoft Security Essentials, and AVG Free. The reasons why it does have 5 stars is quite obvious... 1. Needs to have options for scan levels (Thorough Scans, Quick Scans, Resident Memory Scans, and an integrated option in the Windows Explorer menu for File Scanning) 2. Needs to show what is being scanned for such as RootKits, Viruses, Worms, etc. 3. Needs to support Server class operating systems on the same freeware level. In all, it's not bad, but it does need some minor improvements to truly compete with the big name brand retail and other freeware AV solutions.

  Summary

  very silent and extremely useful layer of protection. Works well with existing AV...be it Avast, Avira or AVG
