• This is sick awesome!!

  Pros

  Awesome program!! Everything a chemistry student would ever need.

  Cons

  In Windows 7 64-Bit you must run this program by right-clicking the icon on the desktop or Start menu, and select "Run as administrator" or else the program crashes, especially if you're trying to get rid of the "tips" on startup.

  Summary

  Uses more of an office 2003 interface then a more recently-styled sleek interface, but who cares, right? It's very easy to use, and has everything a chem student could even think to need. They must fix that "run as administrator" bug for it to stop crashing on normal use. Also it would be nice if they used a good installer to show all the proper uninstall details (i.e. Name publisher, Size, Version ) in Windows 7 uninstall dialog in the control panel. As of now (version 1.1) they have everything jammed under the "Name" heading. This is very sloppy work.

  Pros

  Well organized chemistry reference. Well thought out Periodic Table Useful spectroscopic information for many organic compounds. Much better organized solutions calculator than "Chemical Solutions" Freeware. Calculates far more than just solutions.

  Cons

  A small problem is with the size of the dababase, which hopefully will grow. It would be nice if actual sample NMR spectra were included as proton-proton interactions are just as important as the peak position. A tutorial would also be a great touch.

  Summary

  This is a very useful tool for chemistry students and chemists alike. It is well-thought out and seems to (hopefully) be a work in progress. As it is it's small enough to use on notebook computers and possibly smart-phones as well. Maneuvering through the program is quite intuitive. I hope to see this application continue to mature. Bottom line, though, is that its already extremely useful. Highly recommended.

  Pros

  Lots of data with no nag screens! Very easy to install and use.

  Cons

  It would be nice to have more basic level information, although the periodic table info included is very complete.

  Summary

  This free program has an incredible amount of data compiled into one fairly simple program. Overall, data is well organized, although the pages can be a bit cluttered at times. It contains everything from a periodic table to solvent properties to NMR and IR data to Amino Acids to... I would like to see specific heat capacities for solvents. Additionally, a list of common enthalpies of formation and such would be useful. Overall, this is a really handy program that I will most likely be referencing first (instead of searching wildly on the internet). I should add that I have not yet checked any of the data for accuracy. That could change my opinion quickly.
