• Malware Alert!

  This software has no pros that make up for the fact that downloading it will infect your computer with malware.

  Upon downloading version 6 of this program, my browser was immediately infected with the trovi virus. I thought I was only downloading the BSR suite, which includes Screen Recorder 6, Movie Lab, and Movie Studio. Upon checking my control panel, however, I saw that a handful of unexpected programs were also added to my system.

  Summary

  Scanning reviews of all versions of this product here, I notice I am not the first to mention the malware/virus issue. I will report this to CNET, as I doubt that they intend to assist the spread of malware.

• BUNDLED w/ MIXI DJ BROWSER HIJACK!! DO NOT DOWNLOAD!!

  Honestly, none, b/c I would never use software that's bundled with Malware. I'll just buy Camtasia thank you.

  This program is bundled with the DJ Mixi Browser Hijack that infects all browsers on your system and cannot be removed with a simple add/remove programs. I CANNOT believe this is allowed on CNET. This isn't a simple install where a free program asks to change your default search provider and you uncheck the box and that's the trade off for getting a free screen recorder. This is legit MALWARE that you need software to remove. It's honestly an abomination that this is allowed on C-net, b/c when I saw the download on the cnet site I immediately trusted it. Guess cnet has really gone downhill to allow this kind of garbage.

  Pros

  It has several zoom effects and the program is automatically set by default for my recording. It is nice to see that I can readjust the hotkeys if need be. The program is very practical and user friendly.

  Cons

  The trial version records with watermarks, but it is OK for me as I bought it after my trail period. It now records without logos.

• do not EVERY upgrade to a new version after buying it

  this program is a great screen recorder.

  if you pay for it, do not EVER upgrade to a newer version - ESPECIALLY don't upgrade to a newer free version. It installed for me, but failed to run. I contacted developer and told him his uninstall didn't work, and that the new install failed to run. He said "it's fine". I can't uninstall to go back to my previous PAID version. I can't install it on top of whatever I have. So although I paid for version 4 AND version 5, I can no longer used this program without a paid upgrade. That's LAME.

  Summary

  Developer can't fix his installer/uninstaller. Don't ever upgrade after you buy it thinking you won't pay for the new version. Because you WILL pay for the new version. Developer noticed this and refunded my purchase. So everything is fixed. I'm all happy now. • Version 6 is superb!

  I have been using BSR 6 for a long time and after I upgraded my computer to Windows 8, I was very pleased to see that it was compatible with the new OS. The support team is also wonderful and prompt in replying my upgrade requests.

  Cons

  I cannot use the program on Mac since they don't have a Mac version.

• Deletes video after 20 minutes..

  Good recording quality and stuff.

  Cons

  It deletes your video after approx 20 minutes, the temporary recording video will secretly get deleted without notice while you record - this is due to the fact that BSR Recorder clears it temporary folder.... great!
