It's fast, free, and provides information on your download and upload speeds, along with system information. Broadband Speed Test and Diagnostics is extremely simple to operate. After installation, you'll find a new option on your Firefox Tool's menu. It provides four quick one-click options that are well-labeled and easy to understand.

The four options are split between Internet and Broadband tests. The first has download and upload tests, which not only show you the speed of your Internet capabilities but also where you fall in the range from slow to fast. For Broadband, you can run a short diagnostic test that reports if select elements pass or fail. It also checks your browser's home page to test if it's responding. You don't need any special skills to understand the simply presented results. The Show Configuration button relays basic information about your IP address, Ethernet adapters, and Windows IP data.

While this information isn't exhaustive, Broadband Speed Test and Diagnostics is a free add-on that accurately reports your Internet connection speed and system configuration. It's recommended for users at any level of experience.

There are no pros to this software since it's installation package is made up of specialty format files that require several third pary software applications to decompress and set up.
Cons
Does not install, don't waste your time.
Summary
Packages as an XPI compressed file. You have to download a specialty uncompression program. Then, the installation file is also in a specialty format. I might be able to find something that will run it, but who know's what's next after that? I'm going to find something that just installs correctly.

One or two clicks to diagnose connection, check download or upload speeds

No bandwidth checker is totally accurate...neither is this.
Summary
I've used this for years to gauge how my connection is running. For greater accuracy, run multiple tests and average the results. The diagnostic tests access to Nic, router, modem then net...so you can see where a problem lies.

I've used SpeakEasy and other tests over the years...Speedtest is my favorite, it allows you to choose the upload and download site throughout the cntinenal US.

read some of the reviews, no one seems to realize that this is a firefox extension, you don't have to go to download folder to run it, in firefox just select tools, then broadband speed test and diagnostics. whoila!
