Sort your Safari bookmarks alphabetically and automatically.

Bookmark Sorter will be ready for sorting right from within Safari. Simply open the Safari-menu, go down to "Services" and select "Sort Bookmarks." Bookmark Sorter will ask how you would like to have your bookmarks sorted, and then sort them for you. You will have alphabetically sorted bookmarks in just three clicks. Since Bookmark Sorter is a regular application you can manage it as you do any of your applications. If for example your preferred way of starting an application is through the dock, then Bookmark Sorter will happily live in the dock for you.You will never have to manually sort your Safari bookmarks again. As soon as a new bookmark has been added to Safari the list will be automatically re-sorted according to your selected preferences. The first time you sort your bookmarks with Bookmark Sorter it saves a backup of your current bookmarks and their sort order. You may therefore, at any time you choose, go back to your original bookmarks, and sort order, simply by selecting "Restore Initial Backup" in the "Backup" menu. Bookmark Sorter has been built and optimized for OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard and newer systems, including Lion and iCloud.

Pros
Simple. Nice GUI. Installed flawlessly. Easy to navigate. Hope this becomes popular.
Cons
I always worry about long term support. I understand this company is just one person. I would prefer that he license this to a bigger company and relaunch the product through them, so support would be more certain going forward. Another Con: Sometimes I create a folder but don't put anything in it at first. This software deletes empty folders automatically during the regular update cycle.

<br /><br /><span class='notifyMsg'> Updated </span>on Jan 1, 2012<p/>Eventually, I found there is some sorting performed. But only for bookmarks visible on screen in the bookmarks bar. Bookmarks normally accessed by the drop down menu on the far right are not sorted. Manually sorted into one or more folders that is then placed visibly on the bar will produce sorting inside that/those folders. Deserves more than 1 star but requires a lot of manual intervention.
