• Best computer based billiards game I have played so far

  Pros

  Terrific graphics, addicting and fun to play. Lots of different modes and games. I love the arrows that assist you in making your shot; it's somewhat instructional when applied to real billiards because it causes you to become more familiar with different angles and trajectories, etc.

  Cons

  The game cheats just a little bit. If the cue ball ends up on the edge of a pocket when it's your turn, you have to shoot from that spot. But when it happens when it's the computer's turn, the ball gets nudged forward a little bit to make the computer's next shot easier. Also, it doesn't happen often, but sometimes the program gets stuck on "Computer is thinking" and doesn't come out of it. Speaking programatically this makes me suspect that when the program is calculating it's options and doesn't find one that meets certain criteria, it ends up getting stuck in what programmers call an infinite loop. Basically it means that the program is stuck and has to be shut down abnormally. But I've only had it happen less than a dozen times but I have played the game a LOT.

  It's a fun addicting game and worth the $20.

  Quick loading, Solid gameplay mechanics, Beautiful 2D Design, Lots of options and modes available, Menu is easy and fun to navigate

  Cons

  No Tournament, Career or Season play modes. Balls seem to pocket too easily when near the hole like a vacuum effect.

  Summary

  This is nice quick solid game of pool without all the 3D fanfare and loading screens. The gameplay is good and fairly realistic. There's tons of modes. Pleasant 'low key' music and ambiance. This game is almost 5 star perfect, but I can only give it a 4 because it lacks any type of continuation mode. You can play a single or set games but there is no career mode or tournaments. Also the balls seem to pocket a little too easily any time they get near a hole, it's like a vacuum effect. Otherwise the game is simple and perfect, the way a 2D pool game should be.
