You can distribute them throughout different areas on your hard drive, or you can quickly transfer them to a USB or other external drive. And once you've backed up everything initially, future backups will only update files that have changed since the last time you ran the program, which saves a lot of time.

You can start backing up files as soon as you download Back4Sure, and there is a thorough Help feature available. The instructions will walk you through everything you need to do to get the most out of the app, although they are a little dry. The interface is not terribly intuitive, and files will display a little differently when you're searching for the ones you want to back up, which can be a bit confusing at the beginning -- especially if you're unfamiliar with this type of program. As you choose the files you wish to back up, you can also decide where you want to save them, and the app creates a directory structure that makes the files easy to find later on.

This app works well and runs smoothly. If you can get past the somewhat cumbersome interface, this is a great tool to have. And since it's free, it's certainly worth a try whether you are concerned about backing up pictures, documents, or any other file types.
