AVR Programmer is a utility designed for programming AVR microcontrollers using an ISP interface. This application stands out for its speed and simplicity, providing an efficient alternative to traditional serial port programmers. The program features an easy-to-use circuit and incorporates FTDI's official driver, ensuring compatibility and reliability. Notably, it includes a built-in UART logging feature that allows users to log data from the microcontroller via the MOSI pin, which enhances the utility's functionality.

Top Recommended Alternative

One of the unique aspects of AVR Programmer is its logging capability, which operates in a non-inverting UART mode. It supports only ASCII characters and allows for various newline formats. Users should be aware that specific configurations, such as setting certain pins to input mode, are necessary for optimal performance. The application also provides a schematic for creating an adapter, although the components required may cost around $20. However, it is important to note the limitations regarding PDI/TPI support and the exclusive use of Intel HEX files.
